This course is a three years long course which is offered at BFIT Dehradun as well. This is a well-known BSc home science college in Uttarakhand. This college is affiliated to HNBGU which is one of the most renowned universities in India. The study of b.sc home science covers the theories and concepts of different subject such as humanities, science and arts. During this course, students are trained in tailoring, cooking, dyeing and many other homely activities. These types of work may sound very easy to learn but there are some technicalities which are important to be learned to be better at this.
Though this course is mostly considered the women-centric course, these days, many boys are also getting enrolled in this course. After the completion of this course, students can actually have a wide range of career opportunities in different areas such as nutrition, textile and tailoring. BSc in a home science course is the best course for the students who are already very creative in nature. After doing this course, they can become professionally better at cookery, community living, housekeeping and general household skills.
Home science is a part of science which prepares students for various life skills by combining both science and art altogether. Though there is a term home in the name of this course, it doesn’t mean that the course is all about home-related things. Today, this course is opted by most of the students because the endless employment scope to all after the completion of home science course is not hidden from anyone. The home science degree would educate you about resource management, food & nutrition, fabric and apparel science, development communication & extension etc. It covers all these areas as all and this is why there are a lot of job opportunities for a BSc home science graduates in the market.
In order to understand all of the aspects of this course appropriately, it is important that students have basic knowledge of various courses such as anthropology, economics, chemistry, sociology, biology and physics. There are many students who do not want to start working just after completing graduation, if you’re one of them, you can also apply for masters in home science after completing BSc home science course. After completing this course from BSc home science college, students can opt for PG diploma in counselling, dietetics and fashion designing.
